Email Campaign Best Practices

1. Creating a Campaign

  1. Navigate to Campaigns → Create New
  2. Choose a template or start from scratch
  3. Enter your subject line and preview text
  4. Design your email content with the editor
  5. Select your recipients
  6. Schedule or send immediately

2. Writing Effective Subject Lines

  • Keep it short - Under 50 characters works best
  • Create urgency - "Last chance" or "Today only"
  • Be specific - Tell them what's inside
  • Personalize - Use their name when appropriate
  • Avoid spam triggers - No ALL CAPS or excessive punctuation!!!

  • ✅ "Your weekly marketing tips are here"
  • ✅ "John, quick question about your project"
  • ✅ "New feature: Auto-save is here!"

3. Email Content Best Practices

  • One clear CTA - Don't overwhelm with multiple actions
  • Mobile-friendly - Most emails are read on phones
  • Use images sparingly - Some clients block images by default
  • Include plain text - Auto-generated for accessibility
  • Test before sending - Use the "Send Test" feature

4. Selecting Recipients

Choose who receives your campaign:

  • All contacts - Send to your entire list
  • By tag - Target specific segments
  • Manual selection - Pick individual contacts

Important: Only contacts with valid consent and who haven't unsubscribed will receive your emails.

5. Scheduling

Best times to send email campaigns:

  • Tuesday-Thursday - Generally highest open rates
  • 10am or 2pm - Peak engagement times
  • Consider time zones - Schedule based on your audience
  • Avoid weekends - Unless your audience is B2C

6. Tracking Results

After sending, track your campaign performance:

  • Open rate - % who opened your email
  • Click rate - % who clicked a link
  • Delivery rate - % successfully delivered
  • Unsubscribes - Monitor to ensure healthy list

Industry Benchmarks

  • Open rate: 15-25% is good
  • Click rate: 2-5% is good
  • Unsubscribe rate: Under 0.5% is healthy

7. Compliance Checklist

  • ✅ Include your physical mailing address
  • ✅ Unsubscribe link is present and working
  • ✅ Sender name and email are accurate
  • ✅ Only sending to opted-in contacts
  • ✅ Content matches the subject line
